Mary G/6k Brooks, born circa 30 Mar 18202, married, as his 1st wife, 8 Feb 1838/9 at Eliot, Maine,(int. 8 Dec preceding, Kittery), both parties of Eliot, her 2nd cousin Capt. Abraham/6k Brooks, son of Daniel/5k Brooks and Mary (Molly) Spinney, with whom she had a son.3,4,5 She died 12 Jan 1841, a. 20-9-13.2 He remarried, 1849, and died 4 Jan 1890.6,7 She is buried with Abraham and his 2nd wife in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Eliot.6,8

Eliza Jane Card, born 15 Feb 1819 at Dover, New Hampshire2,3,4, married (1), circa 1838, Theodore Lord, son of Jotham Lord and Betsy Furbish, of Eliot, Maine, with whom she had 4 children.5,1 She married (2), as his 2nd wife, 14 Oct 1849, Capt. Abraham/6k Brooks of Eliot, son of Daniel/5k Brooks and Mary (Molly) Spinney.6,1,7
     The 1850 census recorded Abraham Brooks (a. 41, sailor, real estate $1000), wife Eliza Brooks (a. 31), his widowed mother Mary Brooks (a. 75 [actually 80]), Leonard Spinney (a. 15, student), and Eliza's children James H. Lord (a. 11, student), and Mary Lord (a. 8, student) in the household at Eliot. Next door was Abraham's uncle John H[anscom] Brooks.8,5 In 1860 their Eliot household included Abraham (a. 51, farmer, r.e. $2,700, p.e. $185), Eliza (a. 40), Abraham's mother Mary (a. 85), Eliza's children James and Mary Lord, and four children ages 11 mos. to 9 years of the marriage between Abraham and Eliza.5
     The 1870 census recorded Abraham (a. 61, farmer, $4,000 r.e., $400 p.e.), Elisa J. (a. 51), their children Daniel, Hattie C., Andrew P., and Elbridge, and Eliza's son James Lord (a. 31, "idiot") in their Eliot household. Abraham's brother Jeremiah Brooks lived next door, and his presumed brother Thomas G. Brooks two doors down in the opposite direction.9
     Eliza died 20 Jul 1879 (g.s.), "a. 60 y. 5 m."3,10, and Abraham 4 Jan 1890.11,12 They are buried with his 1st wife in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Eliot.11,13

William Remick, born in Maine circa 18191, married, 17 Jun 1840 in York County, Elizabeth/6k Brooks, both of Eliot.2 They are presumed to be the same William and Elizabeth Remick whose 1850 census household at Eliot included William (a. 31, carpenter, p.e. $600), Elizabeth (a. 35), and daughters Catherine (a. 6), Augusta (a. 5), and Emily (a. 2), the oldest two of these attending school.1
     In 1860 their Eliot household included William (a. 40, ship carpenter, p.e. $55), Elizabeth (a. 44), and children Catharine (a. 16, domestic, student), Augusta (a. 14, domestic, student), Emily (a. 12, student), William (a. 9, student), Mary (a. 6, student), Charles (a. 4) and John (a. 2).3 In 1870 the family remained intact at Eliot.4 In 1880 the household included William (a. 60, widowed farmer) and children Mary (a. 25, single) and John (a. 22, working on the farm).5 The 1910 census at Eliot recorded Mary (a. 58, single) with her widowed father in his house at Eliot.

Prudence Hammond, born 9 Jan 1790 at Eliot, Maine2,3, married, 30 Nov 1808 at Kittery, (int. 6 Nov), William/5k Brooks Jr. [William III, int.] of Kittery, son of Pvt. William/4k Brooks and Mary Gowell.4 (Her sister Mary married another William/5k Brooks (her husband's cousin) the following year.)1
     The 1850 census recorded William Brooks (a. 64, farmer, real estate $1500), Prudence (a. 60), Hannah (a. 26), Isaiah (a. 24, farmer), William (a. 22, joiner), Leander (a. 18, farmer) and Abraham (a. 9) in their household at Eliot, Maine. This Isaiah may have been a nephew, but was probably not William's son; Abraham was probably a grandchild. Next door was Shuah ("Mashiur") Brooks, widow of William's brother Levi, and her 6 children.5
     Prudence died 21 Jan 1865 (g.s.), a. 752, and William 23 Apr 1877 (g.s.), a. 90.6 They are buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Eliot.7,8

Chandler/6k Brooks, 2nd so-named, was born 23 Jan 1812 at Eliot, Maine,(g.s.)2 Then of Eliot, he married (1), 7 Apr 1842 (int. 5 Mar, York), Sarah B. Kingsbury.1,3 The 1850 census recorded Chandler (a. 36, carpenter, no estate reported), Sarah (a. 35), and daughter Mary (a. 8, student) in their household at Kittery, Maine.4 Sarah died 14 Mar 1852, a. 385, and he married (2) (int. 18 Nov 1856, Kittery) Sally A. Thompson of York.1,6 He died at Kittery 9 Sep 1890 (g.s.), a. 782, and his widow 2 May 1908, a. 78.5 He is buried with both wives in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Eliot.7
