The 1790 census recorded his household at Western7, where he married (2), 27 Jan 1791, Abigail Bailey Willard, with whom he had 3 children.8 In 1798 Caleb Brooks occupied a one-story dwelling house of 800 s.f. on two acres valued at $100, which he was leasing (with other property) from owner Calvin Eaton, at Greenwich, Massachusetts, "West on the County Road near the meeting House North Parish."9 His wife Abigail died 13 May 1814 (g.s.), "aged 61 years."10
In the U.S. House of Representatives, 3 Dec 1818, "Mr. Allen, of Massachusetts, presented a petition of Caleb Brooks, stating that he was born in the state of Massachusetts, and previous to the commencement of the revolutionary war, he removed into the British province of Nova Scotia, where he acquired a valuable real estate; that in the year 1775, he was required to take the oath of allegiance to the British government, which refusing to do, in consequence of his attachment to the cause of his native country, he was compelled to abandon his property and return to the United States; and that he served as a soldier in the revolutionary army, and praying for a grant of land equivalent in value to the property he thus lost, or for such other relief, as Congress may think just and reasonable." The petition was referred to the Secretary of War.2
Caleb died 12 Oct 1827, a. 8210, and is buried with Abigail in Quabbin Park Cemetery, Ware, Massachusetts.11
