Thomas/a Wells married Helen Siday of Maldon, Essex, England.1 Of Fulbridge Street, Maldon, he survived his wife, and died there at the end of Dec 1624, "being then unmarried."1
His will, dated 17 Dec 1624, left his property to his "three only children." He gave his young son Thomas the close or pasture of 4½ acres in Maldon called Little Portland, or failing heirs on the boy's part, half the parcel to daughter Hellene, wife of Moses Catmer, shoemaker, and half to youngest daughter Hester Wells. His residence and land in Fulbridge Street he left half and half to the same daughters, to default to his son Thomas if the daughters died without heirs. (The son died in 1631, and Helen in 1655, and both properties passed to the remaining daughter Hester.) Thomas Wells devised the care and education of his children Hester and Thomas to his brother-in-law and executor, Simon Raye, until they should be competent to be put forth and placed in service.1 Simon Raye proved the will 3 Feb 1624/25.1
