Capt. Benjamin/4c Brooks Jr. was born 4 Nov 17[44] at Farmington, Connecticut, and baptised 17 Feb following at Southington Congregational Church.1,2 Appointed lieutenant of the 6th company or trainband of Farmington by the General Assembly of Oct-Nov 1763; captain of the same, Oct 1766.5 Probably the Capt. Benjamin of Hartford who married, 9 Jun 1774 at the 1st Congregational Church, New Haven, Rebecca Sherman of New Haven, daughter of James Sherman and Sarah Cooke.6,7 Recorded in 1776 at Claremont, New Hampshire, where he, his father, and his brother Barnabas each refused to sign the declaration of Revolutionary loyalty known as the New Hampshire Association Test attached to that year's state census, while brother Cornelius "made no association." All three brothers later removed to Otsego County, New York.3,4 Of Hamden, Connecticut in the 1790 census, household including himself, two males over 16, and two females.8 Sometime thereafter removed to Butternuts (later Morris), New York.9 Probably there he married (2) Lucy (–?–), who d. there 21 Aug 1814.9,10 There he died 8 Aug 1825 (g.s.), a. 80.11,10 They are buried in Harmony Cemetery, Morris.10

Henry/4c Brooks Jr. was born 10 Nov 1748 at Wallingford, Connecticut2,1, and baptised the 20th at the Congregational church in Cheshire.2 He married, 5 Feb 1775 at Cheshire, Content/6 Andrews of Wallingford, daughter of Enos/5 Andrews and Content Curtis.3,2 (Their siblings Thomas Andrews and Sarah Brooks also married.) The 1790 census recorded him at Cheshire, with four males under 16 and four females in the household.4 There he died 14 Oct 1820 [1821, g.s.], a. 715,2, and she 14 Oct 1824, a. 68.2 They are buried in St. Peter's Episcopal Church graveyard.2,6

Stephen/4c Brooks was born at Wallingford, Connecticut, 10 May 17503,1, and baptised the following month at the Congregational church in Cheshire.3 A "Capt. Brooks" was one of the first settlers of Hampton, Washington County, New York, which patent was granted in 1771, and "first settlement was made some little time before the Revolution." Stephen's sister Jerusha and her husband Simeon Brooks also removed there shortly after the conclusion of the war.4
     Stephen married, 13 Feb 1772 at Wallingford, Elizabeth Smith, daughter of John Smith and Mary Cook.3,5 Recorded at Hampton in the 1820 census6, he is reportedly buried in "the old cemetery, Queens St.," Whitehall, New York. (His sister Jerusha and husband Simeon Bowles are also buried at Whitehall.)7
     "Family incomplete," says Jacobus.3

Joel/4c Brooks was born 4 Mar 1761 at Wallingford, Connecticut.2,1 He married, 26 Jan 1786 at Cheshire, Miriam/5 Moss of Wallingford, daughter of Capt. Titus/4 Moss and Mary Atwater.3,2
     Joel's wife died at Cheshire 13 May 18324,2, and there he died 17 Sep 1838, a. 77.5,2 They are buried in St. Peter's (Episcopal) Church graveyard.6
