Solomon/5c Brooks was born circa 1760 to Desire/4c Brooks, father unknown.2 He married, 12 Jun 1783 (Cheshire, Connecticut c.r.), his 1st cousin once removed, Thankful/4c Gaylord, daughter of Nathan Gaylord and Thankful/3c Brooks.3,2 Baptised as an adult 29 Oct 1786 at the Congregational Church, Cheshire2, and recorded at Cheshire in the 1790 census, household composition 1-1-3.2,4
     His wife Thankful died 24 Oct 1822, a. 642, and he on 3 Mar 1823, ae. 63 (g.s.)2 His will, dated 20 Apr 1821 at Cheshire, mentions children Julia, Flavella (wife of Alfred Gregory), Aurilla and Loyal.5 Solomon and Thankful are buried in Hillside Cemetery, Cheshire.2,6
     Solomon's 1st cousin Reuben Brooks deposed in 1832 that he enlisted in September 1778, and served six months as a private under Lt. Lemuel Hitchcock, Col. Jackson's Connecticut regiment, as a substitute, until "the sd Solomon Brooks having recovered his health — again took his place in sd Company."7
