Socrates/6g Brooks, a twin, born 26 May 1788 at Deerfield, Massachusetts2, was reported there (as "Suretis") with his parents later the same year.3 His parents settled about 1790/91 on the west green of what became Norwich, New York.4,5 He married, by 1814, Lucena Johnson.6 He and his brother Clitus inventoried the estate of their father Thomas Brooks of Plymouth, New York, whose will was proven 9 Sep 1822.7 Socrates died on his father's South Plymouth farm, 12 Aug 1841, a. 53.6,8 His wife survived him.9
     His sons Cassius, Roswell and Jesse settled in Grant County, Wisconsin, where his widow died.9 He is buried in Stewart's Corners Cemetery, Plymouth, New York, with his parents and several siblings.10
