Capt. Samuel/4h Brooks, born 14 May 1730 at Haddam, Connecticut1, married Dorothy Smith, daughter of David Smith and Dorothy/3 Brainerd.3 Perhaps the S.B. appointed, 17 Mar 1756, as 2nd lieutenant, 3rd regiment, 3rd company (Capt. John Patterson), in the Connecticut forces raised for the Crown Point expedition.4 Perhaps the Samuel whose 1790 census household at Haddam included himself, two other males over 16, and five females.5 His wife died at Haddam 13 Mar 1814 (g.s.), a. 826, and he on 22 Mar 1816 (g.s.), a. 85.7 They are buried in Higganum Cemetery.3
