Mary/3a Brooks, 2nd so-named, was born 3 Apr 1666 at Concord, Massachusetts1, where she married, 19 Apr 1688, Nathaniel/3 Ball Jr. of Concord, son of Nathaniel/2 Ball and Mary Wayne.2 The will of her aunt, Mary/2a Brooks, 20 Apr 1691, left Mary Ball, my kinswoman that formerly lived with me, a good cow.3 In the settlement of her father's estate, Aug 1696, Nathaniel Ball and Mary his wife received £110 in money.4
     Nathaniel died in that part of Concord which is now Bedford, 4 Mar 1724/25.5 6 Apr 1725, widow Mary and son Nathl Junr signed his inventory, amounting to £838.2.4.6 Mary died 22 Aug 1726, a. 607,8, and is interred with Nathaniel in the Hill Burying Ground, Concord.9

Philip/2 Russell, born in 1650 (g.s.), was baptised at the First Church, Cambridge, Massachusetts (undated rec., but before 14 Nov 1658). He is often confused in secondary sources with Philemon Russell of Danvers. For Philemon, see Wyman's Charlestown, 2:840.2,1
     Of Cambridge Farms (now Lexington), Philip married there (1), 19 Apr 1680, Joanna Cutter, daughter of James Cutter and Phebe Page,3,4, who died at C.F. 26 Nov 1703.5,6,7 There he married (2), 18 Oct 1705, Sarah/3a Brooks of Medford, daughter of Caleb/2a Brooks and Susanna/2 Atkinson.8,9,10 He was selectman of Cambridge, 1700-01; subscriber to the meetinghouse, 1692.11
     He died at C.F. 7 Feb 1731 (g.s.)12,13, and was buried in Robbins Cemetery ("the Old Burying Ground").14 Sarah, wid. of Phillip Russel, late of Lexington, died 9 Mar 1748 at Middleton, Massachusetts, a. 79.15

Thomas Atkinson, of Concord.—Inventory 16 (9) 1646. Simon Willard, Tho. Brookes, Georg Wheeler, prizers. Indebted, £9. 10s. The sum wch debts pay, £59. 05s. : 1d. He had £80 in England to rec. & some little he hath rec. but it is not knowne what, vntill intelligence comes the next yeare. Administration granted to Susan, his wife, 25 (9) 1646.1
