Property13 Mar 1660, Springfield, MAMarch 13, 1660,— There is granted to Thomas Bancroft, Abell Wright, John Lumbard and Richard Sikes, a parcel of land lying on the west side of ye great river over against ye long meadow below George Colton's, which land hereby granted, lyeth between two brooks, and it is to run westward from ye river to a hill about 40 rods westward; — Thos. Bancroft to lie next to the Southernmost brook, Abell Wright next toward the north, John Lumbard next to him, and Richard Sikes next to him: — They four sharing therof equally in three-score acres of land, if there be so much there; — or if there be not so much they are to divide the piece equally amongst them, lying as above expressed. — See Record of Deeds, vol. i. p. 203. Various other grants of land, to the number of sixteen in all, from 1655 to 1695, as well as several to his sons Joseph and Abel, Jr., are on the town records also.3

Obadiah/2 Cooley was born 27 Sep 1646 [27 Jan 1646/7, Cooley Gen.] at Springfield, Massachusetts.1,2 He had a seat "Below ye Pillars on ye North Side" of the meetinghouse, 1662/63.2 "In spite of statements to the contrary … neither Obadiah Cooley I nor Obadiah Cooley II ever maintained residences in Longmeadow. Obadiah Cooley I lived in Longmeadow, probably, during the years after his father, Benjamin Cooley, removed there (about 1660), until he established his own home, which was in the village of Springfield.."2
     Obadiah married, as her 1st husband, 9 Nov 1670 at Windsor, Connecticut, Rebecca Williams of Windsor, daughter of John Williams and Mary Burley.3,2 He died at Springfield 3 Sep 1690, a. 43.2 His widow married (2), 26 Nov 1691, John/3 Warner. (John Warner's previous wife, Sarah/2 Ferry, was sister to John/2 Ferry, who married Obadiah's daughter Mary/3 Cooley.)4,5 Rebecca (Williams) (Cooley) Warner died at Springfield 18 Oct 1715, a. 66.6,5
