Child with Janittje Van Salsbergen:

  • Casparus/5x Brooks7 b. 20 Jun 1773, d. after 1850
Jan (John)/4x Broek(s) or Brooks was baptised 24 Dec 1738 at the Dutch Reformed Church, Albany, New York, witnesses Zacharias and Gessie Haas.2,3,1 He married, 14 Jan 1769 at the Linlithgo Reformed Dutch Church, Livingston, New York, Janittje Van Salsbergen, daughter of Caspar Van Salsbergen and Catharina Bond(t).3 Jonathan, of the 1st Ward, Albany, probably the same, had a 1790 census household which included himself and two other males over 16, three males under 16, and four females.4
Valentine Van Zee reports that he and his wife died after Oct 1792, probably in Rensselaer County, New York.3 However, the Providence Journal of 16 Apr 1829 reports the recent [3 Apr] death at Albany of a Jonathan Brooks, "in 91st year," which correlates with a 1738 infant baptism.5,6 Cutter gives a death date of 2 Apr 1829, and calls him Jonathan, son of Jonathan/3 and Rebecca Tatte, but his calculated birthdate does not fit that family's list of children.2
