Elisha/1 Bisbee, born in England by 16212, had a wife Joanna (–?–)3, and was a freeman of Plymouth Colony, 1642.1 "Was of Scit., and by occupation cooper."3 "In 1644 he kept a ferry where Union Bridge now stands," says Deane's Scituate.3
He was of Marshfield, 1646, though his children were baptised at Scituate.4 His will, dated 6 Apr 1688 at Duxbury, and proved 4 Jun 1690, bequeathed to sons Hopestill, John and Elisha, and daughters Mary Beals, Martha Turner and Hannah Brooks and their children.4
"An 'Elisha Beesbeach' appears at Scituate in 1642 [PCR 2:45, 167, 168], and had a full life in that town; the surname is later more commonly Bisbee or Bisbey. He has frequently been included as a son of Thomas Bisbeech. The will of Thomas Besbeech and the chronology make this impossible.5'"
