Pvt. James/4s Stebbins was born 29 Apr 1740 at Brimfield, Massachusetts1, where he married, 10 Jan 1765, Deborah/6 Hoar of Brimfield, daughter of Dea. Joseph/5 Hoar and Deborah/4 Colton.2 He marched, on the alarm of 19 Apr 1775, as a private in Capt. Freeborn Moulton's Monson company of minutemen. They left Cambridge to return home on the 27th, and were credited with 12 days' service in all.3 James died 21 Jan 1821, a. 80.3 His widow died at Monson 26 Oct 1840, a. 96.3
