Rev. Ephraim Wheaton married, 7 Jan 1684 at Rehoboth, Massachusetts, Mary/2 Mason of Rehoboth, daughter of Sampson/1 Mason and Mary Butterworth.1
     "Mr. Wheaton was first settled as the colleague of the Rev. Samuel Luther, pastor of the first Baptist Church in Swansea. Upon the death of Mr. Luther, in 1716, Mr. Wheaton succeeded him as sole pastor of that Church. His ministry was long and eminently successful.2
     "Though he ministered in Swansey, his residence was in a contiguous part of Rehoboth, where he died, April 26, 1734, aged 75."2

Samuel/3 Gorton III, born 29 Jul 1690 at Warwick, Rhode Island2, married, 1 Jun 1715, Freelove/3 Mason of Swansea, Massachusetts, daughter of Elder Joseph/2 Mason and Lydia/2 Bowen.3,2 They removed, after 1725, from Warwick to Swansea, where their last 5 children were born.2 He was buried from his son Benjamin's house at Warwick, 23 Jan 1784, funeral sermon by Elder John Gorton.2 Inventory filed March 8, 1784.2
     He was the grandson of Samuel/1 Gorton, the religious dissident who, driven out of Massachusetts Bay, founded Warwick.

Child with Samuel/2 Gorton:

Susanna Burton, born in 16651, married (1), 11 Dec 1684, Samuel/2 Gorton Jr. of Rhode Island, son of Samuel/1 Gorton and Mary Maplet,1 who died at Warwick 6 Sep 1724.1 She married (2) Richard Harris, who was about 25 years her senior.1 His will, 21 Dec 17[3]1, in his ninety-second year, bequeaths to wife Susanna all his housings and lands for life, and at her decease to sons Samuel and Hezekiah and daughter Susannah Stafford.2 Susanna died 25 Jun 1737.1
