John/2 Moss Jr., 2nd so-named, was born 12 Oct 1650 at New Haven, Connecticut.1 Of Wallingford, there he married, 12 Dec 1676, Martha Lothrop of Norwich, daughter of Samuel Lothrop and Abigail (–?–).2,3 He died at Wallingford 31 Mar 1717, a. 664, and she 21 Sep 1719, a. 62.5 Among the first settlers of Wallingford, "he took as active a part in civic affairs as his father had."3
     18 Jun 1717, the estate of John Moss of Wallingford was administered by his widow Martha and eldest son Samuel. John Moss owned a farm on Ten Mile Hill, another at Honey Pot and one at Busby Hill, in all over 500 acres of land.3

John/1 Moss, born in England circa 1604 (g.s.)1,2, died in 1707 at Wallingford, Connecticut (g.s.)1, where he is buried in Center Cemetery.1
     John Moss "was with the earliest settlers of the New Haven Colony in Connecticut and signed with the Planters' Associates, 4.4.1639." He was a deputy to the General Courts of 18 Feb 1639, Jul 1648, Jun 1649, Sep 1649, and Aug 1664. Chosen corporal of the trainband 6.6.1642. In 1646, town records note, "John Moss being bidd to walk the rounds on a Lord's day, came to the meeting house and stayed there, so the service was neglected; he was fined 10 shillings."
     "At the age of sixty-seven years he was one of the incorporators of that part of New Haven which was set off as Wallingford, where, on May, 1678, he was chosen Commissioner and to marry people; he was reelected Commissioner from Wallingford eighteen times, serving as deputy also, and for Meriden as well. The only mention of his wife was at the 'seating of the Meeting House in New Haven when Goody Moss was assigned a seat.2'"
