Capt. John Benjamin Jr. married, 9 May 1753 at Stratford, Connecticut, Lucretia Backus, daughter of John Backus and Sybil Whiting.2 A veteran of the Revolutionary War, he died 14 Sep 1796 (g.s.), "ae 65,"1, and was buried in the Episcopal Cemetery, Stratford.1

Sybil Whiting, born 6 May 1708 in Windham County, Connecticut1, married, 15 Jan 1725 at Windham, John Backus Jr. of W., son of John Backus and Mary Bingham.2 There she died 7 Aug 1755, "ae 47,"3, and was buried in Windham Center Cemetery.1 He died 17 Jun 1769, a. 71.4
