Job/4a Brooks was born circa 1718, almost certainly at Concord, Massachusetts (though no record survives there).2 By locale and date of birth he was probably the son of Lt. Hugh Brooks. He married, by 1743, Anna, probably Anna/5 Bridge of Lexington, daughter of Matthew/4 Bridge and Abigail Bowman.34,5,6
The 1790 census recorded Job's Concord household as himself, one male under 16, and two females. Given Job and Anna's advanced age, the two unrecognized household members may have been grandchildren.7
Job died at Concord 3 Mar 1794, "ae. 77," according to the town clerk's book82, and his widow 15 Aug 1798, a. 74.9 They are interred in the Hill Burying Ground.5,10

This given name, while unique in Brooks families of the area and period, was a favorite in the Bridge family of Lexington; Anna Bridge's father, grandfather and great-grandfather all bore it.

George Tolman, the 19th-century historian and genealogist of Concord, wrote in his notebook, "d c1798 age 75," while a Concord Free Library database of Concord Gravemarkers, based upon Tolman's 1873 field notation of the town's two oldest cemeteries, records Job's gravestone inscription as Sacred to the Memory of Mr Job Brooks who died March 13, 1792 in the [illegible] yr of his age.
