William Sargent, born 2 Jun 1752 at York, Maine1,2, married (int. 10 Jul 1779, York), Susanna Allen.1,2 He died at Wells 13 Nov 1824, a. 72.2,1 "Susannah declined to administer her husband's estate following his death; her own death is unrecorded."1
     A farmer, he owned the Schooner Elmira, and served in the Revolutionary War.2

Jefferson Washington/7k Sargent was born in Maine circa 1821 (g.s.)1,2 He married (1), without issue, 19 Jun 1842 at Wells, Maine, Mercy A. Tripp, daughter of Woodward Tripp and Nancy Huntress.1,3 They are found in Kennebunk census returns of 1850, 1860 and 1870.4 She died there 15 [Sargent; 17, g.s.] Jan 1876 at age 56.1,5 He married (2), again without issue, Sarah Currier, daughter of Edmund Currier and Esther Kimball.1,6 They were recorded at Kennebunk in the 1880 census.7 He died 22 Jun 1884 "aged 63 years."1 His widow died at Kennebunk 6 Jul 1908.6 He is buried with both wives in Hope Cemetery.8
     A carriage manufacturer by trade, he also served as collector of customs at Kennebunk.4

     She died at Kennebunk 15 [Sargent; 17, g.s.] Jan 1876, a. 56.2,1 Her husband remarried, and died 22 Jun 1884, "aged 53 years."2 All three are buried in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.5

Sarah Currier, born circa 2 Jul 1828 (g.s.) at Kennebunkport, Maine1,2, was there recorded (a. 24) in the household of her father and stepmother in 1850.3 She married, as his 2nd wife, Jefferson Washington/7k Sargent, son of Capt. Nathaniel Kennard Sargent and Susan B/6k Brooks.4,1
     In 1880 their household at 202 Storer St., Kennebunk, included Jefferson W. (a. 59, customs collector), wife Sarah (a. 48), and niece Etta Currier (a. 13, student). Boarding with them were Mary J. Woods (a. 42, born IRE, milliner) and her three unmarried daughters, two of them also milliners.5
     Jefferson died 22 Jun 1884 (g.s.), "aged 63,"4 and in 1900 widow Sarah C. Sargent (a. 70) owned her Kennebunk home free of debt. Boarding with her was her unmarried sister Esther Currier (a. 57).2
     Sarah died 6 Jul 1908 (g.s.), a. 80-0-41, and is buried with her husband and his 1st wife in Hope Cemetery.6

Haven Brooks/7k Sargent was born 25 May 1819 at Wells, Maine, and named for a brother of his mother who died in infancy.1,2 He married, 5 May 1844 at Kennebunk, Maine, Elizabeth W. Gowen, daughter of Heber Gowen and Eliza Averill.3,2 She died there 19 May 1848, of consumption, a. 24.4
     A trader, he went with his father-in-law in 1850 to California, where he died 5 Jun 1850 in a San Francisco hotel fire at age 31.3,5 His wife is buried with their daughter Susan, who died at 4 mos., and an infant son in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk. Haven has a stone there as well, likely a cenotaph.6

Eliza Averill, born 18 Nov 1801 at York, Maine1, married, 21 Oct 1822 at Charlestown, Massachusetts, Heber Gowen, with whom she had 8 children.1 They were resident in Charlestown in the 1830 census1, then at Kennebunk, Maine,in 18401 and 1850.1
     Heber Gowen left Maine and his family in 1850, settling at Petaluma, California, where he was co-owner of the Gowen Building.2 He died 14 Mar 1863 at Napa City, California, a. 68.3 Eliza died at Kennebunk 5 Nov 1864, a. 62.1

Heber Gowen, born 29 Jul 1794 at Lyman, Maine1, married, 21 Oct 1822 at Charlestown, Massachusetts, Eliza Averill, with whom he had 8 children.1 They were resident in Charlestown in the 1830 census1, then at Kennebunk, Maine,in 18401 and 1850.1
     Heber Gowen left Maine and his family in 1850, settling at Petaluma, California, where he was co-owner of the Gowen Building.2 [His son-in-law, who accompanied him, died in a San Francisco hotel fire in 1850, and in 1860 Heber was living as a single man, a. 66, boarding in the Petaluma household of Robert [Douglas], another Maine native.3
     Heber died at Napa City, California, 14 Mar 1863, a. 68.4 His widow died back in Kennebunk, 5 Nov 1864, a. 62.1
