Col. Roswell Hopkins, born 13 May 1733 at Waterbury, Connecticut2, married (1) Mary/4g Cook, daughter of Nathaniel/3g Cook and Mary/3g Brooks.3 He settled at Amenia, New York, where at the outbreak of the Revolution he commanded the Sixth Regiment of Dutchess County militia.4
     His wife Mary died 24 Jul 1803 at Bridport, Vermont, a. 66.5 He married (2) Mary Lewis, widow of Capt. Paine Converse Jr. of Bridport6, who died at Bridport 13 Dec 1809, a. 757, and himself died in 1829 at Vergennes, Vermont.8 The burials of Roswell and his 1st wife Mary are recorded in Vergennes Burying Ground, but his stone is now lost.3

Stephen Hopkins, born 17 Aug 1706 at Hartford, Connecticut1, married, 26 Feb 1729/30 at Waterbury, Connecticut, Jemima Bronson, daughter of John Bronson and Mary Hickox.2 He died 8 Feb 1767, a. 60, probably at Amenia, New York,3, where he is interred in the Old Burying Ground.3 His gravestone is inscribed, He was a tender Husband, Indulgent Father, Kind Master; his Life a series of Piety and Charity to the Poor, He sweetly fell asleep in Jesus, with an assur'd Belief Of a Blessed Immortality.3 Jemima died 22 Oct 1792, a. 86, at Bennington, Vermont4, and is buried in Old Bennington Cemetery.4
