The will of Henry Brooks, yeoman, then of Deerfield, Cumberland County, was dated 18 Feb 1749/50, and proved 5 Mar following. Sons Henry and Joel are to have equally 50 acres bought of Abraham Sayre, a marsh of 20 1/5 acres bought of Uriah Mills, and a cedar swamp of 16 acres bought of Joseph Westcot. He leaves brother Josiah Brooks half the "plantation he and I now live on, my half to be sold with the personal estate and divided among my four children, Mahattalle, Henry, Lydia and Joel." His wife Abigail, unmentioned in the will, was evidently deceased.
