Lt. Gershom/2 Flagg was born 16 Apr 1641 at Watertown, Massachusetts, where the name was originally spelled Flegg.1,2 He settled at Woburn, and there married, 15 Apr 1668, Hannah/2 Lepingwell of Woburn, daughter of Michael/1 Lepingwell.3
     "He was a tanner by trade; and in 1673 had his dwelling-house, and tanning establishments, with about an acre of land attached, in High Street, near the site of the first meeting-house, having Rev. Mr. Carter's house on the West, the Old Burying Place on the East, and the Training Field on the South."4 16 Nov 1674, town meeting voted Gershom Flagg 2s. for "bringing down Corne for deputy's dyet."5
     He was killed by Indians, 6 Jul 1690, with Capt. Wiswall and others, at Wheelwright's Pond (Lamprey River), Lee, New Hampshire, aged 49.6 Lt. Gershom/2 Flagg died 6 Jul 1690 at Lee, New Hampshire, a. 49.6 His widow married (2), 10 Dec 1696, Ens. Israel/3 Walker7, and died (again) a widow 29 Mar 1724, a. 78.8
     "Giddy, the Negro servant of Gershom Flagg, was in Court for an alleged larceny in Feb. 1680.—Middlesex County Court Records, Vol. III, Page 305. In Oct. 1690, administration on the estate of Lieut. Gershom Flagg of Woburn, was granted to his widow Hannah and his son Gershom."9

Lt. Samuel/3 Kendall, born 29 Oct 1682 at Woburn, Massachusetts,1, married (1), by 1708, Elizabeth (–?–), with whom he had 15 children.2 His wife died at Woburn 10 Jan 1741/422, and he married (2), 23 Jul 1751 at Concord, Mehitabel Hosmer of Concord.3 She died at Woburn 31 Aug 17554, and he 13 Dec 1764, a. 82.5 He is buried with his 1st wife in the First Burial Ground.6
     "Was a carpenter, received a lieutenant's commission from Gov. Belcher, 1732; was an original proprietor of Townsend and Athol, and widely known. (Vide Sewall's History, Woburn, 621, 622, etc., etc.)"7
     "He was a very active, enterprising, public spirited man, often employed in town business, and much engaged in promoting both the civil and the religious prosperity of Woburn. He was an original proprietor of North Town, or Townsend, and as such, became involved in a controversy with the heirs of Major Hathorne, of Salem, who claimed a portion of the lands in that town, under a prior grant from the General Court. He was also a principal settler of Paguaige, or Athol; in the settlement of which he and several of his sons suffered much from floods, and from the depredations of Indians during the French wars between 1744 and 1760."8
